What should I set Damper Type to?

This configuration is only available for sites that have Pelican Zone Controllers (Z8 or Z24) and thermostats that have System Type set to Single or Dual Duct Damper.

Damper Type

This configuration is found under: Admin > Thermostat Configuration > “select any thermostat” > System Type set to Zone Damper > Zone Controller = “select the zone controller the thermostat communicates with” > Damper Settings > Damper Type

None: If the thermostat is part of a multi-zone system but has no damper actuator to control.

Open/Close (recommended): The thermostat is controlling a Power-Open/Spring-Close or a Power-Open/Power-Close damper actuator.

The thermostat should be wired to the zone damper as follows:

  • (Y): Damper rotates Open
  • (Y2): Damper rotates Close

Floating Damper: The thermostat is controlling a Floating damper actuator. You will also need to set the following configurations.

  • Actuator Travel Time: Tells the thermostat how many seconds it takes for the damper to go from full closed to full open.
  • Ventilation Damper Position (100% recommended setting): Tells the thermostat what position to place the damper when only a ventilation cycle is active.
  • Maximum Damper Position: Tells the thermostat what position to place the damper when a heating or cooling cycle is active

The thermostat should be wired to the zone damper as follows:

  • (Y): Damper rotates Open
  • (Y2): Damper rotates Close
Mixing Box: The thermostat is controlling a single actuator that rotates between either having the cold deck damper open OR the hot deck damper open.

The thermostat should be wired to the zone damper as follows:

  • (Y): Damper rotates to the Cold Deck
  • (Y2): Damper rotates to the Hot Deck
