What are the Humidity Control Modes in a Thermostat?
Control Mode: These options set the humidity control sequence.
None: The thermostat tracks real-time and historical room relative humidity levels, but is not controlling to a relative humidity set point.
Humidify: The thermostat is controlling a humidifier. If the room’s relative humidity drops below the thermostat’s humidity set point, the thermostat will energize (G) and (Hu) to bring on a humidifier. The humidifier will remain enabled until the room’s relative humidity level reaches the relative humidity set point.Dehumidify: The thermostat is controlling a dehumidifier. If the room’s relative humidity rises above the thermostat’s humidity set point, the thermostat will energize (G) and (Dh) to bring on a dehumidifier. The dehumidifier will remain enabled until the room’s relative humidity level reaches the relative humidity set point. Once the (Dh) signal is energized it will stay on for at least 5 minutes to keep from rapidly cycling on and off. When it is de-energized it will stay off for at least 5 minutes
Full Control: Both the Humidify and Dehumidify sequences will occur and the thermostat will have a minimum relative humidity and maximum relative humidity set point.
Cool Only: The thermostat will attempt to use its HVAC unit’s cooling coil to reduce the room’s relative humidity level. If the room’s relative humidity rises above the thermostat’s humidity set point, the thermostat will energize (G) and (Y) to enable cooling. Cooling will remain enabled until the room’s relative humidity level reaches the relative humidity set point or the room temperature reaches 70°F or the room’s temperature falls 4°F below its cool set point, whichever is lower.Cool + DH: Combines the cool-only mode and Dehumidify mode. If the room’s relative humidity rises above the thermostat’s humidity set point and there is not an active cooling cycle, the thermostat will energize (G), (Y) and (Dh) to bring on the fan, cooling, and enable a hot gas bypass valve or a re-heat element.
