How do I enable an exhaust fan?

There are multiple ways Pelican can enable an exhaust fan.

Enable an exhaust fan anytime the supply fan is enabled:

Wire the Pelican thermostat’s (G) output to enable both the supply fan and the exhaust fan.

Enable an exhaust fan only when the economizer is active:

You will need a Pelican PEARL controller wired to your Pelican thermostat.

Wire the PEARL’s (E) output to energizes the exhaust fan when the an economizer cycle is active.

Enable the exhaust fan only when Demand Ventilation is active:

You will need a Pelican PEARL controller wired to your Pelican thermostat.

Wire the PEARL’s (E) output to energizes the exhaust fan when a Demand Ventilation cycle is active.

Enable the exhaust fan based on the outdoor damper percentage:

You will need a Pelican PEARL economizer controller wired to your Pelican thermostat.

Note: This is a configuration option only settable by Pelican Technical Support and is called Exhaust Enable Damper Position.

Wire the PEARL’s (E) output to the exhaust fan enable. Technical Support can configure Exhaust Enable Damper Position from 0% to 100%. This tells the PEARL to wait until it has the outdoor damper to the configured percentage open before enabling the (E) output.

Enable the exhaust fan if any of multiple Pelican thermostats enable their supply fan:

You will need a Pelican Power Control Module (PM5-120/240) wired to enable the exhaust fan.

This works through a wireless logic sequence Pelican calls ‘On-Demand Start’. No wires from your Pelican thermostats need to be wired to the exhaust fan for this application.

Note: This sequence can only be configured by Pelican Technical Support.

What occurs is anytime a Pelican thermostat calls for heat, cool, and/or fan, it can be setup so the Power Control Module enables the exhaust fan.

A single Power Control Modulate can be linked to up to 200 Pelican thermostats.

Enable the exhaust fan if any of multiple Pelican thermostats go into a Demand Ventilation or Economizer cycle:

You will need a Pelican Zone Controller (Z8 or Z24) wired to enable the exhaust fan.

This works through a wireless logic sequence Pelican calls ‘On-Demand Start’. No wires from your Pelican thermostats need to be wired to the exhaust fan for this application.

Note: This sequence can only be configured by Pelican Technical Support.

What occurs is anytime a Pelican thermostat calls for Demand Ventilation or Economizer, it can be setup so the Zone Controller enables the exhaust fan using its (G2) signal.

A single Z8 can be linked to up to 8 Pelican thermostats.

A single Z24 can be linked to up to 30 Pelican thermostats.
