Can a PEARL adjust the outside damper for different fan speeds?

Yes.

This configuration can be found in the Pelican Web-App > Admin > Thermostat Configuration > ‘select any thermostat‘ > Variable Speed Fan.

Configuration options and meanings:

The available configuration options under Variable Speed Fan adjust based on how many stages of heating and/or cooling the thermostat is configured to control. The configuration for each fan speed is in percentages from 0% to 100%, where 0% equals a 0 Vdc output from (A2) and the fan will be OFF, while 100% equals a 10 Vdc output from (A2) and the fan is at full speed.

Cool Fan Speed – Stage 1: This tells the PEARL what the fan speed should be when 1st stage cooling is enabled.

Cool Fan Speed – Stage 2: This tells the PEARL what the fan speed should be when 2nd stage cooling is enabled.

Heat Fan Speed – Stage 1: This tells the PEARL what the fan speed should be when 1st stage heating is enabled.

Heat Fan Speed – Stage 2: This tells the PEARL what the fan speed should be when 2nd stage heating is enabled.

Ventilation Fan Speed: This tells the PEARL what the fan speed should be when only the fan is enabeld.

The PEARL is controlling the fan speed and outside damper:

The PEARL will set the outside damper to the Minimum Damper Position configuration when the fan speed is at the highest configured speed. It will automatically increase the outside damper position anytime the fan speed is running slow then the highest configured speed.

The HVAC unit is controlling the fan speed and the PEARL is controlling the outside damper:

Even though the PEARL is not directly controlling the fan speed, it still needs to be configured for Variable Speed Fan and the different fan speeds need to be set for the different HVAC stages. This tells the PEARL what the fan speeds will be at, so it can properly adjust the outside damper with the same algorithm as if it was controlling the fan speeds directly.
