How it all comes together.
No communication wire required. The Z8 controls the HVAC unit and communicates with each Pelican thermostat over Pelican's wireless mesh network. Through this real-time communication, the Z8 properly sets the HVAC unit to provide A/C or Heat to the building zones in demand. Pelican thermostats (TS200, TS200H, TS250, or TS250H) open and closed 24 VAC damper actuators to bring the right conditioned air into each space.
A1 and A2 are 0 - 10VDC outputs for Bypass, Variable Speed Fan, and/or Economizer control
The Z8 provides complete static management, with built-in restart safeties. It also provides complete economizer control with economizer position feedback and fault detection.
Online Management and Fault Detection
Configure and manage the Z8 right from the Pelican Web App. Managing your entire zoned system from the Internet puts building comfort control into your hands. When a failure occurs, you receive an email or text alarm, directing you to your system and the issue. So you can immediately identify the problem and make resolutions proactively.
Responsive Demand Management
The Z8 communicates wirelessly to each zone thermostat supplied by the AHU. With this communication link, the Z8 dynamically adjusts to the output required for optimal comfort in each zone. Pelican's continuous real-time analysis and feedback, puts controlling comfort, safety, air quality, and energy reduction under your control from virtually anywhere.
Responsive Static Management
With a built-in static input, the Z8 monitors duct static pressure to optimize the target static within your system. The Z8 offers from 0 to 10 outputs for either a Variable Speed Fan or Bypass Damper. Safety is provided for both high and low static to protect the duct work, coils, and AHU.
Historical Usage Tracking
The Z8 Internet connectivity provides real-time and historical information about the operation of the AHU during its lifecycle. Using Z8 historical graphs, pin-pointing issues and resolutions is simple without even stepping on-site. Save time and energy solving problems when they occur.
Advance Temperature Management
The Z8 is able to monitor demand from each zone and calculate the temperature output required by the AHU to properly maintain a comfort indoor environment. This logic delivers peace of mind since the system is able to address and determine how to adjust the system to best meet the building's needs.
Responsive Economizer Logic
The Z8 uses built-in advanced logic to analyze outside air temperature, space temperature, CO2 levels (if using a TS250), space demand, and VFD speed, to properly modulate the outside air damper. Logic and control adds energy efficiency, air quality, and comfort to a building's climate.
The Z8 is easily installed. Install it close to the AHU so it becomes the controller. This eliminates the need to run wire between the Z8 and the HVAC unit. There is ZERO communication wire required to the zones. Each zone thermostat communicates to the Z8 wirelessly. Making retrofit easy and affordable.
